COVERED CALL
DETAILS FOR THIS COVERED CALL TRADE
Today, (35) Covered Call contract(s) were bought back on Direxion Daily MSFT Bull 2X ETF (ticker: MSFU) Because I bought this option back early, I did not make max profit. The final profit / cash flow collected is posted below. Note, instead of making the original premium profit projection of ~$0.45 per share or $0.2025, I collected less which equaled ~$1225 of the total projected cash flow for this trade.

REASONING FOR BUYING BACK THIS CCW OPTION (FINAL)
WHY I CLOSED this PMCC Trade on > MSFU
Microsoft gets worked after earnings so now this is a LONG term hold and hoping I can DCA down and sell some March and April premium leading into what will be a ROLL of the LEAPS (I'm sure of it) ... nice little $2,900 I guess > the stock has fallen such that this option is down -97.51% which means we will use TIME to our advantage and close this trade, taking risk off the table and now have cash back in the account to make another trade > > remember, stocks ebb and flow up and down, the buy and hold investor is hoping his stock gets back to break even where the covered call writer has made money while holding the position (if done correctly) ... that is the Edge for Covered Call Writers > this trade now has built in -6.46% in downside protection ... the stock could fall this amount for my strike is challenged. > this trade now has built in

NOTE: I have ADDED (20) LEAPS Call Options in support of this trade to reduce my break even ... see the blog post for the details

Details of the option buyback
The option has fallen such that it's down some -0.975124378109453% at the time of this buyback and with (14) day left.

REASONING FOR ROLLING THIS MONEY VS JUST SITTING (FINAL)
WHY I OPENED this PMCC Trade on > Direxion Daily MSFT Bull 2X Shares (MSFU)
This trade on MSFU starts out as a > (42) day trade where Im trying to capture anywhere from 3% - 5% for a monthly Covered Call Trade. This trade will make $1575 dollars which represents 2.81% premium profit on money invested. Should my shares be taken I could make more, break even of lose money based on where my LEAPS Call Option is priced (see below for those calculations)
Further commentary and feelings on this trade
MSFU (2x Leveraged ETF to Microsoft) > Microsoft is not going anywhere and in fact if this is the bottom of the recent NASDAQ flush of the fluff, it should move higher with the markets ... this trade is now going to be a $1,500 - $3,500 a month type trade and WILL NOT EVEN THINK of it as MSFT moves up and down with the markets ... I WILL ROLL these LEAPS in April if need be.
With this new Strike Price, what is the projected LEAPS Value?
If this trades as its projected, I will make money on the LEAPS Call Option > IF my shares are taken at this strike price, my expected LEAPS value will be $11.31 , my cost basis is $-11.20

LETTING MONEY BUILD THE ACCOUNT SIZE
Because this is in my non-taxable account I'm just going to use the premium to build the account size to make more premium versus buying dividend paying funds will save that for all my taxable accounts and with no tax implications we're not going to put any money in the tax bucket either

COVERED CALL
DETAILS FOR THIS COVERED CALL TRADE
Today a NEW Covered Call position was opened using (MSFU)
Direxion Daily MSFT Bull 2X Shares was trading for $40.09 a share when I placed this trade. I then sold (15) Covered Call contract(s) using/controlling (1500) shares for the (Feb-20th) Expiration Date, $42.00 Strike Price receiving a Premium of $2.01 or $3015. in up front cash flow to begin this trade. I used a LIMIT ORDER trying to gain the MID price which in this case I was able.

WHAT IF YOUR SHARES ARE TAKEN? (CLOSEOUT LEAPS SOLD)
If my shares are taken, that means the stock has moved above my strike price of $42 which means I will make both the Covered Call Premium of $2.01 and I will basically have to SELL my LEAPS call option which is projected to be priced at $19.69. This will result in a profit as my LEAPS will be sold higher then where I bought it I will have used this LEAPS call option for (3) trades.

COMMENTARY AS TO WHY I OPENED THIS TRADE
WHY I OPENED this PMCC Trade on > Direxion Daily MSFT Bull 2X Shares (MSFU)
This trade on MSFU starts out as a > (XDTE) day trade where Im trying to capture anywhere from 3% - 5% for a monthly Covered Call Trade. This trade will make $3015. dollars which represents 10.24% premium profit on money invested. Should my shares be taken I could make more, break even of lose money based on where my LEAPS Call Option is priced (see below for those calculations)
Further commentary and feelings on this trade
MSFU (2x Leveraged ETF to Microsoft) > Microsoft sold off, but in typical fashion, Wall Street stepped in and bought the dip. The stock has moved from $440 to $478, and with earnings approaching, I wouldn’t be surprised to see additional volatility. In fact, a continued rally is certainly possible. With the broader market down and Microsoft off only 0.41%, I’m comfortable letting this trade percolate. Ideally, the position expires as planned or the shares are called away. I also added five LEAPS call options to the trade, which increases near-term covered call premium and helps reduce the overall cost basis of the LEAPS position.

WERE IN THIS TRADE ... so this doesn't bother me

📊 Microsoft’s next earnings report is scheduled for:

🗓️ Wednesday, January 28, 2026 — after the market closes.
• The release will occur after markets close

With this new Strike Price, what is the projected LEAPS Value?
If this trades as its projected, I will make money on the LEAPS Call Option > IF my shares are taken at this strike price, my expected LEAPS value will be $19.69 , my cost basis is $-19.07
> as with every trade, I will manage this trade as it approaches expiration ... buying back the option if it adheres to my -50% and 0.10 cent guidelines. -50% guideline being, such this option price fall 50% or more in the first 2 weeks I will buy back and look to roll the option - if the this option falls to 0.10 or less (in most cases) I will buy back the option and roll it for another credit if it presents itself.
GOLDEN RULES OF COVERED CALL WRITING (AVOIDING EARNINGS)
WILL THEY HAVE EARNINGS?Verify-MSFUYES
Try to avoid Earnings Reports > Earnings can be a stocks most volatile moment so its important to try to avoid writing a covered call thru or near earnings. Even great stocks can move +/- 10% on earnings
GOLDEN RULES OF COVERED CALL WRITING (DIVIDEND EX-DATE)
WILL COMPANY HAVE AN EX-DATEVerify-MSFUYES
Try to avoid EX-Dates > Companies that have dividends will trade differently in and around its EX-Date ... keep this in mind when writing a covered call as you might have your shares taken if its profitable for the Call Buyer.
-50% , -10% RULES (PRICES WHEN I MIGHT BUY BACK)

Below is the LEAPS Call Option purchase information. The performance part is based on a DELTA MOVE in the LEAPS vs the ACTUAL stock move so the numbers are as close as I can get them as DELTAs can change
WHY I TOOK A POSITION IN THIS STOCK > MSFU
MSFU (2x Leveraged ETF to Microsoft) > I’ve been saying this for weeks: I believe Microsoft was simply sold off after earnings as investors took profits. It stabilized around $480, give or take, and now it’s rallying back above $490. I’m confident it’s going to push back above $500, and if the market continues climbing through December and into late January, Microsoft could easily be back near its all-time highs heading into its next earnings report. Microsoft is one of the most rock-solid trades on Wall Street. We want to get involved when it’s trading at the lower end of its range, and with this Poor Man’s Covered Call strategy, I’m not just talking about it — I’m doing it.
