COVERED CALL
DETAILS FOR THIS COVERED CALL TRADE
Today I CLOSED a Covered Call position on (TNA)
Today (15) ITM Covered Call contract(s) were bought back on (ticker: TNA) for the expiration date Oct-10 (4) days early , the original Strike Price was $43 for a premium of $3 for which only $0.42 was Time Value Premium or the profit in this trade.
Further commentary as to why I opened this trade >
Made one of those mistakes that just feels like a kick in the stomach. When the stock was trading at $48.65, I could have bought it back, paying just a mere 0.10 cents in time value premium. I tried to get $48.65, but the stock fell to $48.40 and I had to get out of the trade. I’ll take this $650 profit, but I’m not happy because I couldn’t exit at the price I wanted. I gave away about +$300 in profit as the stock fell from $48.65 down to $48.40. Although I made a profit, I’m absolutely not happy. Still, we have the cash in hand, and we’ll look for another trade.

Remember , I only make Time Value Premium profit on an In The Money Covered Call ... so I bought back the option and SOLD the shares for the current market value ... this leaves me with the result you see above on this trade ... if you are not understanding of the result , watch the 'In The Money' (ITM) Covered Call video below to help
MY TRADING PHILOSPHY WHEN A STOCK IS UNDER MY COST BASIS
We Control the Outcome – A trade is never a loss until we decide it is. Stocks and ETFs fluctuate, and we take advantage of these movements by selling premium until the shares are called away. Losses are only realized when we choose to exit a trade due to a lack of confidence. This mindset reinforces that even if a stock is down, we are not out—we manage positions strategically to exit near our cost basis, counting premium income along the way and seeking new opportunities.

IRA > NO DIVIDEND TREE OR TAX BUCKET
IRA TRADE
LETTING MONEY BUILD THE ACCOUNT SIZE
Because this is in my non-taxable account I'm just going to use the premium to build the account size to make more premium versus buying dividend paying funds will save that for all my taxable accounts and with no tax implications we're not going to put any money in the tax bucket either

DETAILS FOR THIS COVERED CALL TRADE
Today a NEW (ITM) Covered Call position was opened using (ticker: TNA)
Direxion Daily Small Cap Bull 3x Shares , when the stock was trading for $45.23 a share I Sold (15) (ITM) Covered Call contract(s) using (1,500) shares for the August-10-2025 expiration date, strike price of $43 receiving a premium of $3 or $4500 in up front cash flow to begin this trade. If shares taken I only make $1,155 in CC premium ... These shares I'm using have were acquired via () and have a cost basis of $45.23 per share.
COMMENTARY AS TO WHY I OPENED THIS TRADE
WHY I OPENED this CCW on > TNA
This TNA (9) day trade , where I'm trying to capture anywhere from 1.2% to 1.6% for a 5 day trade will make me a projected 1.77% Cash on Cash on money invested
Further Commentary as to why I did this trade
TNA (3X Leveraged ETF to the Russell 2000) > Looking at the chart, TNA is trading right at the Keltner Channel midline, so I’m giving myself some solid downside protection — about $2.15 worth. Even with a nasty sell-off, if TNA were to drop from $45.15 all the way down to $42 or even $41, I can still work with an “at cost basis” covered call. That allows me to potentially stack two decent trades while the stock finds a bottom. And let’s be honest — if TNA falls from 45 to 41, that means the broader market has also moved down considerably. That’s why I’m focused on downside protection here. We’re still collecting a healthy premium, which is exactly why I chose the $43 strike.

PROJECTED PROFIT POTENTIAL (CCW PREM ONLY)
If this trade goes as planned, I will have my shares taken at my strike price and I will only collect the difference between the Real Money and Time Value which is the plan

This being an ITM Covered Call ... I did collect the premium of $3 but remember that I'm giving away my shares cheaper at $43 so in this case the Time Value premium profit could be $0.77 or $4500 in total premium profit if NO buy back.

HOW YOU WOULD BENEFIT FROM THIS TRADE
ITM CC BUY SHARES > SELL CALL
For this trade, I already own the shares, so my total profit may or may not include stock appreciation. In your case, you would purchase the shares outright at the current trading price I’ve provided. You would then proceed to sell a near-term covered call, aiming to achieve the same premium for the same strike price and expiration date.
OF COURSE, this is all projected and the final results could have you LOSING MONEY. Ensure you understand this trade and that it meets your risk tolerance. I wish you good luck.
